Hydrosol Facial Toners

Cleanser & Toner

Wild As The Wind Hydrosol Facial Toners are very simple, very gentle and beautifully fragrant, because they are infused with natural aromatherapy oils. Whilst subtle and gentle they tone the face incredibly well.

Hydrosol Facial Toners

Hydrosol Facial Toners go a long way to preparing the skin for the optimal absorption of you favourite facial oil.

Hydrosol Toners can be used to gently cleanse the face as well as tone it, by simply spritzing the face with a couple of sprays of Hydrosol Facial Toner prior to washing with a Natural Exfoliating Face Cloth.

Hydrosol Facial Toners are not, however, designed to remove oil based makeup. They are only designed to cleanse and tone our natural skin.

Testimonial:

I love using your cleanser/toner because [of] the easy spray bottle. The scent is heavenly and feminine, and when I wipe my lotion soaked cotton pad over my face it leaves a warm even glow.

Why Use Facial Hydrosols?

The Wild As The Wind Hydrosol Facial Toners not only offer incredible cleansing results, they also do the following:

  • Deliver the same healing properties of the essential oil that the hydrosol was produced with.
  • Have a deeply penetrating cleansing action, gently reaching into the base of the pores and pulling out grime and pollutants.
  • Hydrosols like Rose Water are astringent and have pH balancing properties to cleanse and tone the skin.
  • Make your skin feel fantastic.
  • Perfectly prepare the skin for an application of your favourite facial oil. *You will need less facial oil if you use a Wild As The Wind Hydrosol Facial Cleanser / Toner first.
  • Because the Hydrosol Facial Toners are made from the distillate, which is effectively a by-product of making essential oils, it is thus comprised of distilled water combined with microscopic drops of essential oil. Hydrosol Facial Cleansers, thus, add pure, distilled water to the skin ready for an immediate application of your favourite face oil. This will then lock in all that lovely moisture and healing benefit of the residual essential oil.

Directions For Use

Using the Wild As The Wind Hydrosol Facial Cleansers & Toners could not be easier. You have, however, several options!

Method One:

Close eyes and spray three or four squirts of Hydrosol Facial Cleanser & Toner directly onto your face. Allow this to sit on your face whilst you rinse your Muslin Cloth Exfoliator in hot water.

Wring out your muslin cloth and then start massaging your face with it from the top to the bottom. Rinse regularly and always apply to the face when hot.

Method 2:

*This method is less environmentally sound, and more costly for you too.

Using organic, unbleached cotton wool pads or balls, spray about eight squirts of Wild As The Wind Hydrosol Cleanser / Toner, and then firmly wipe the face in short stroking motions. Wipe the entire face, using one or two cotton wool swabs as required, particularly around the eyes, nose and chin. Don’t forget to wipe your forehead!

Start by cleansing around the eyes, and finish by cleansing around the mouth and nose.

The reason we start with the eyes is because the eyes are very absorbent and if we cleanse other parts of the face first we are likely to deposit bacteria, viruses and other undesirable things into the eyes. This can fast track infections into the eyes and, therefore, the rest of our body.

*The Herpes Simplex Virus will blind us if it gets into our eyes!

If you have an open outbreak around the nose or mouth or elsewhere on your face, use separate balls or pads of cotton wool for these areas to restrict cross-infection.

Warnings & Contraindications

Using Hydrosol Cleanser & Toner couldn’t really be simpler or safer.

However, in this ever increasingly toxic world, where the use of antibiotics, and other deeply toxic drugs, has been excessive, there are a growing number of people who are hypersensitive to many things. Unfortunately, this even means that people can develop an hypersensitivity to the most healing and natural of things.

However, I regularly meet people who tell me that they can’t use anything that has a fragrance. But this is almost always due to the nasty chemicals, like phthalates, in perfumes, and nothing to do with the beautiful healing aromas of essential oils.

Perfumes are very toxic and phthalates are hormone disrupting ‘obeseogens’… It’s small wonder that so many of us are beginning to reject these nasty chemicals by developing sensitivities.

Nevertheless, some people have such diminished gut health and therefore, lowered immunity, which drastically reduces their tolerance to many things, so that a small number of people have a reaction to natural products also. Our gut health is dramatically compromised when we take antibiotics and other prescription drugs. Out gut is 80% of our immune system.

We always recommend a skin patch test, on the soft skin of the underside of the forearm, prior to using any product on the face.

There is a possibility that prescription drugs will be contraindicated to certain essential oils. We do not advise using essential oil products when taking prescription drugs. Hydrosol Cleansers & Toners have residual amounts of essential oils in them.

Additional Hydrosol Uses

As well as using your hydrosol as a face cleanser and toner you can also use it as a refreshing facial or body spray…

It is not, however, a very effective room spray or air freshener.

Perhaps the most effective secondary use of hydrosols is for applying essential oils to the skin for healing purposes. Some people prefer to use an hydrosol rather than an oil based dilution. This is mainly due to the convenience of using a water base solution of essential oils as opposed to an oil based dilution.

Refreshing Facial Spray

You can use your hydrosol spray as a refreshing facial and body spritz during the hot summer months, or as a pick-me-up on a long hard day, when you’re feeling tired and ready to quit… Your hydrosol, with beautiful reviving nano particles of essential oil will freshen you up and boost your stamina.

Take your hydrosol on holiday with you to remove the days grime… but also use it during the day to cool you down. It is especially helpful before meals, when you are feeling too hot and bothered to eat… Using your hydrosol in this way will allow you to enjoy your food to the fullest.

Flower Waters Or Floral Waters?

Hydrosols are also known as flower waters or floral waters, just to make matters more confusing!Rose Hydrosol Cleanser

Rose Hydrosol is by far the biggest selling Wild As The Wind Cleanser / Toner. This is followed by Neroli, Lavender and Geranium. Frankincense, (my favourite), has a cult following, as does Sandalwood.

Rose Hydrosol Cleanser

Suitable for all skin types, this eminently versatile, sublimely scented floral water is my personal favourite facial cleanser.

Made with the hydrolate, or distilled water, (from the distillation process used in the extraction of Rose Otto Essential Oil), this uplifting cleanser delivers a lot of therapeutic benefits.

As it takes 1.2 million rose petals to make a small 10ml vile of Rose Essential Oil, the end product is extremely pricey. If you are paying under £200.00 for a 10ml bottle, then you are almost certainly not getting what you’re paying for.

This makes Rose Otto Essential Oil prohibitively expensive for most mere mortals!

But, it’s collagen promoting, hormone balancing, Acne quashing, Rosacea restoring, Eczema eschewing abilities are just too important for us to leave it out of our daily regime.

Wild As The Wind include the Rose Otto Essential Oil in FACIAL OIL No. 2, but if you suffer from more problematic skin you are likely to be using FACIAL OIL No. 7 or FACIAL OIL No. 9, neither of which have this component.

So, the best way of introducing this bacteria reducing, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, profoundly rejuvenating, deeply rehydrating, pH balancing, scar eliminating ingredient into your daily regime is to use the much more affordable hydrolate. Rose hydrosol is suffused with nano-particles of the Rose Otto (Rose Damascene) Essential Oil.

Not all Rose Hydrosol Cleansers are created equal, however. Price is usually a good indication of quality.

Rose Hydrosol Uses

Acne

Rose Hydrosol uses are many and varied. Aside from being used as a cleanser and a refreshing spritz, it can also be sprayed onto an area of the face that is showing signs will turn into acne. Nipping an emerging acne outbreak in the bud with Rose Hydrosol is perhaps one of the best ways of dealing with acne in it’s early stages. This approach should halt the progress of the acne all together.

Nausea

If you have eaten too much or are suffering from motion sickness, the smell of pure Organic Rose Hydrosol can lessen the sensation of nausea associated with these conditions.

Air Conditioning Agent

Using Rose Hydrosol as an air conditioner agent, especially when someone is convalescing is very helpful.

Also excellent in other confined spaces, like in the car, on a hot, tiring day.

After Sun Lotion

Add your Rose or Lavender Hydrosol to Aloe Vera and use as a super-charged healing balm for your over-exposed skin.

Skin Tonic

Mix with a little homemade green tea or other antioxidant, anti-inflammatory teas if you have been bitten by insects or you have eaten something that disagrees with you. This Rose Water Tonic should appease your symptoms and help you heal faster.

Hydrosol Facial Toner / Cleanser

Hydrosol facial cleansers are made from the distilled water used in the process of extracting healing essential oils from plant materials… Rose Essential Oil is made from the petals of the flowers, hence, so is the hydrosol, Frankincense Essential Oil is made from tree resin, and thus so is the hydrosol…

Basically, plant matter is collected from the various parts of the plants and trees that yield good amounts of the healing component of the oils, and is then placed in a vat of water, after which they are distilled.

The distillation process extracts the essential oils from the plant matter within the steam of the water. When the steam is cooled this is called hydrosol.

You can see how this works in the following 1.46 minute video.

Distilled Essential Oils

Of course, not all essential oils are made via the process of distillation, but the majority are, leaving us with a lot of choice as to which hydrosol we wish to use as a cleanser and toner.

Hydrosol Face Toner Cleansers

Hydrosol Facial Cleansers contain tiny particles of the essential oil which are left in the distilled water after the extraction of the essential oil has taken place. They are essentially the residue of the plant oils which are suspended throughout the flower water / hydrosol.

Hydrosol Or Hydrolate?

Some refer to these distilled waters, which are left with residual essential oils suspended within them, as hydrolates, and refer to distilled water, mixed  with a few drops of separately distilled essential oil, as hydrosols.

Unfortunately, there is no industry standard that we all recognise, and so the terming of these things is left to the personal preference of the user.
